這里的office和辦公室無關，注意，這里的offices是加了“Ｓ”的復數。
I count on your good offices.
錯誤：我想和你的公司合作。
正確：我指望你的幫忙。
Office的意思很多，在口語中，如果前面加上形容詞good，并且加上“s”變成復數，就有了「服務、幫忙」的意思。英文字典里的解釋：the influence or power that someone has and can use to help others. （可以用來幫助他人的影響力或力量）
再來看一個例句：
I got the job through the good offices of a friend.我透過朋友的幫忙找到這份工作。
再來看幾個很容易搞錯的office用法：
run for office
錯誤：跑去辦公室
正確：投入競選
這里的office指的是職位，經常是重要、有權有勢的職位，人才要run for，跑著過去。
再看一例：
Bob plans to run for office next year. Bob準備明年參選。
理解 run for office 的意思后，就不難理解 take office 是就職：
The President takes office two months after the election. 總統于選后兩個月就職。

“In office”是指在位、掌權，比較抽象，和“in the office”（在辦公室里）這個具象的意思不同。
Some people think she has been in office for too long. 有人覺得她在位太久了。
既然 in office 是掌權，也就有out of office，意思是「不在位」：
The Socialist Party has been out of office for almost ten years.社會黨在野已經將近10年了。
